Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik announced yesterday that the Republika Srpska Government will give its approval to BiH to sign an adapted Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU. After a meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade, Dodik said that the Republika Srpska authorities will discuss this agreement tomorrow with farmers, but did not say when the approval will be given.
“Watch the news on Sunday morning,” Dodik told reporters in the Serbian Government building.
He said that Republika Srpska officials trust the German Minister of Agriculture that he will establish measures in real time which will be useful to agricultural producers in Srpska.
Dodik said that Republika Srpska representatives in joint BiH institutions were ready to accept the adapted Stabilisation and Association Agreement and that the BiH Council of Ministers accepted the Agreement.
“When Republika Srpska said that it is to the detriment of our agricultural producers, they were ready for a public debate and confrontation with us. Then German Chancellor Angela Merkel said ‘yes, there are problems, try to resolve them,’” Dodik has said.
Dodik also discussed with Vucic a meeting between Republika Srpska leaders in Belgrade and said that the only condition is that Vucic finds the time for the meeting.
“We must sit down and discuss reasonably some things. It is obvious that different views in Republika Srpska mostly harm Srpska. We must see which are our strategic interests. This is the role of Serbia, and we see this as talks with friends,” Dodik says.
He stressed that Srpska does not have a better friend than Serbia.
“We are looking at Serbia. We love the attention Serbia is paying to Republika Srpska. It is our desire to constantly develop this relationship,” Dodik said.
