Sarajevo, October 11 / – Starting this evening until Wednesday, October 14, the Jewish Community in BiH will be organising a number of events to mark the 450th anniversary of the arrival of Jews to the soil of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the formation of the Jewish Community in Sarajevo.
The adviser on culture to the Jewish Community in BiH, Elias Tauber, said that the marking of the anniversary will start this evening with an exhibition of Jewish posters, authored by Mihajlo Atijas, in the New Temple Gallery in Sarajevo.
“An exhibition of BiH author Ivan Hrkas, ‘out of a kitchen’, and an exhibition of photographs of American author Edward Ferot will be opened in the coming days,” Tauber told SRNA.
He said that a two-day scientific gathering titled “the Jewish Community in BiH, 1565-2015” will start tomorrow in the afternoon, where over 30 participants from the whole of Europe will take part.
The scientific gathering will be held in the seat of the Jewish Municipality in Sarajevo.
“The marking of the anniversary will end on Wednesday, October 14 when a solemn academy and a concert will be held in the National Theatre in Sarajevo,” Tauber said.
