In Banjaluka, the head of Russian diplomacy will arrive around 3:00 p.m., he will visit the site where the Serbian-Russian temple will be built, followed by a meeting with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, and RS Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic.
The Speaker of the Republika Srpska Parliament, Nedeljko Cubrilovic, has told SRNA that a visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Banjaluka is extremely important for the affirmation and strengthening of Srpska’s position within the Dayton BiH.
Cubrilovic has said that the visit by Lavrov, an earlier visit by the president of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, to the Republika Srpska Parliament, and firm ties between Srpska and the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg are a clear indicator that Moscow has understanding for Republika Srpska’s positions and respects its institutions.
“It is true that other high-ranking officials also visited Banjaluka, but now we have an opportunity to welcome probably the most important foreign minister in the world, Sergey Lavrov, with whom we will tour the consecrated foundations of a Russian-Serbian church and a cultural center. He will also have meetings at the highest level,” Cubrilovic has said.
He says that Lavrov’s visit and visits by officials of other important countries show that Srpska is conducting a wise policy, that it is strengthening friendly ties with the world and developing economic and cultural cooperation, which is important for the overall development and a better standard of living of citizens.
