Special Serbia – Srpska relations to be maintained

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said in Belgrade today that Serbia wants to maintain a special relations with Republika Srpska and that the cooperation between Serbia and Srpska is very significant.

“I would like to thank the Government of Republika Srpska which we were able to welcome in our Serbia today and hold the 8th joint session of the governments, which preparations we were working on for a long time, because it is not only a protocol but very concrete, with specific projects and suggestions on which we are working and will be working in the future,” Brnabic has stressed at a joint press conference with Serbian Prime Minister Zeljko Cvijanovic, following the joint session of the two governments.

After thanking for welcome note, Cvijanovic has expressed her satisfaction with today’s session of the governments of Serbia and Srpska, as 30 conclusions have been adopted, among which the Action Plan for Development of Podrinje has been outlined.

She has pointed out that cooperation in the field of tourism, infrastructure, transport, economy, water management and forestry is planned for the Podrinje area.

According to her, the new action plan for the development of Podrinje is a strategically important project for both countries in the field of water management, especially from the aspect of the municipalities that gravitate towards the Drina River.

She has expressed her gratitude to Serbia for providing concrete financial support to municipalities in Srpska in the past period, but also in the FBiH where Serbs live.

After the session, the government signed four joint memoranda.

A Memorandum of the two governments on aviation cooperation was officially signed by Srpska Interior Minister Dragan Lukac and Serbian Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin.

The Agreement on Cooperation in the field of quality infrastructure is signed between Zlatan Klokic, the minister of economic relations and regional cooperation of Republika Srpska, and Goran Knezevic, the minister of economy of Serbia.

Memorandum on Cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Information of Serbia and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska for the period 2017-2021 was signed by Vladan Vukosavljevic, the minister of culture and information of Serbia and Dane Malesevic, the minister of education and culture of Srpska.

Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of postal and telecommunications traffic was signed by Nedjo Trninic, the minister of transport and communications of Republika Srpska, and Rasim Ljajic, the minister of trade, tourism and telecommunications of Serbia.
