In Republika Srpska 2,872 children were born within past five months, which is by 53 babies less than in the same period last year, the Public Fund for Child Protection told SRNA.
The data of the Fund are based on the number of applications submitted for assistance for newborns’ supplies.
Most of the children, 433 of them, were born in the largest city in Srpska – Banjaluka, followed by Bijeljina with 294 newborns, Prijedor with 179, Doboj with 161, Gradiška with 133, Zvornik with 119, Laktaši with 113 and Trebinje with 102 newborns.
No child has been born in the municipalities of Novo Goražde and Istočni Drvar since the beginning of the year. One child was born in the municipalities of Oštra Luka and Kupres each until the end of May, while a single-digit number of babies were born in another 15 local communities in Republika Srpska within above mentioned period.
Fourteen babies were born in the youngest municipality in Republika Srpska – Stanari in five months.
According to the data of the Public Fund for Child Protection, 34 twin births were recorded in Republika Srpska in the past five months, most of them in Bijeljina – 7, and 4 in Pale and Laktaši each.
