The International Festival of Small Scenes and Monodrama has started last night in East Sarajevo, and a rich and competitive and accompanying program awaits the audience.
At the opening of the Festival at the Istočno Novo Sarajevo Cultural Center, the National Theater of Republika Srpska presented itself with the play “The Lone West”.
The young cast of Zlatan Vidovic, Bojan Kolopic, Danilo Kerkez and Natasa Peric recalled the estrangedness that often reigns among the closest family members, and the power of forgiveness even after the worst things that happen to them.
Festival director Mladen Jankovic announced a rich competition and accompanying program, emphasizing that the expert jury, composed of President – theatrologist and theater critic from Germany Nina Mazur, and members director Vitomir Mitric and theatrologist Zoran Todorovic will present four awards – for best performance, best monodrama , and the best actor, or actress.
This year we have included theaters and actors from Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and BiH, it is an excellent selection, and in the official competition program of the festival there are five chamber plays and four monodramas – said Janković.
Festival selector Ljubo Bozovic said that of the five performances, three were comedies, which was the desire of the audience.
The Mayor of East Sarajevo, Nenad Vukovic, said that the International Festival of Small Scenes and Monodrama is the most significant manifestation of culture for this city and the region, given its long tradition of existence, high attendance and high quality program.
This is an event of a republican character. I have a duty to congratulate everyone who has participated in the creation of this brand in the last 24 years, especially Ljubo Bozovic, the conceptual creator of this great project – Vukovic told reporters in East Sarajevo.
In the hall of the Cultural Center, a sales exhibition of paintings created at the White Colony 2019 Colony at Tvrdimici was opened.
One of the 20 participants in the colony, academic painter Milos Popovic, noted that the authors left a significant oeuvre of the works that were exhibited, and the proceeds from the sale of these works, at the initiative of the artist, will be directed to the continuation of the construction of the Art Gallery in East Novi Sarajevo.
The Small Scenes and Monodrama Festival began in 1995 in Hadzici, under the name of the Republika Srpska Monodrama Festival.
The organizer of the first festival was the Republican institution for cultural and artistic activities “Srna fest”. The Republika Srpska Monodrama Festival was tasked with affirming and rewarding professional actor and local text.
