On the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice, marked internationally on the 20th of February, Caritas called upon B&H politicians to recognize that social justice is a fundamental principle in the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

According to the data from various local and international organizations, about 18 % of B&H population lives below the critical poverty line, while 48 % are on the edge of social exclusion.

Statistical indicators show that the situation is getting worse and more and more people are becoming socially vulnerable.

The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007. It is annually observed to encourage people to look at how social justice affects poverty eradication. It also focuses on the goal of achieving full employment and support for social integration.
