Some 5,000 refugees from the Middle East arrived in Serbia during the first ten hours of Monday, the local Red Cross in Presevo has said.
Red Cross Secretary in this southern Serbian town Ahmet Halimi told the Beta agency that 1,600 packages of food were distributed on Sunday, along with milk provided by a private donor.
According to him, “the flow of people is not subsiding.” In addition to food, 500 pairs of shoes and new clothes were also distributed on Sunday by the Red Cross and by the UNHCR because it was raining.
Halimi said that beside the milk provided by a private donor from Presevo, there were others from Novi Pazar and elsewhere in Serbia, but that as the weather gets colder warm clothes and shoes will also be needed.
