It’s been a while since a kid got as much excitement in the basketball public as Alen Smailagić, a Serb who unexpectedly became a member of the Golden State Warriors last summer.
The BC Beko, in Padinska Skela, on the left bank of the Dunav trains about 500 basketball players in several age categories.
It was in this club that coach Nenad Petrović first discovered and then developed and eventually prepared Alen Samilagić for the draft – a process of five years.
“Allen ended his individual training with me and worked as seriously as possible. He is a natural, open and smiling, one golden kid,” Petrović told RTS.
“He has been taking English and Spanish courses in recent years. We were getting ready. He was not a student, but we said that the school had to be completed,” the club added.
The Golden Child became a “warrior” from the Golden State.
