BAM 88.5 million worth new hospital construction contract signed

Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska, Alen Seranic, and president of the China Sinopharm International Corporation, Li Can, signed yesterday contract to build and equip a new hospital building in Doboj of a total value of BAM 88,568,717, VAT excluded.

According to the turnkey project, the deadline for building the hospital is 36 months.

The BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik, Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, Chinese Ambassador to BiH Ji Ping, Doboj Mayor Boris Jerinic and Director of the St Apostle Luke Hospital, Mladen Gajic, are present at the signing of the contract in Doboj.

The foundation stone laying ceremony is scheduled after the signing of the contract to mark the beginning of the project implementation, which will take place in Nikola Tesla Street.

According to the conceptual design, the new hospital is designed as a monolithic facility, which is clearly and functionally divided into floors, six-storey plus ground floor, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Srpska announced.

In addition to the main building, a technical building will be built.
Due to the 2014 flood, which hit Doboj, this conceptual design stipulates lifting foundation slab for 80 centimeters above the surface.

New hospital facilities are energy-efficient. All the hospital wards and services have been designed in accordance with European standards, meeting the requirements of a modern hospital.

The new hospital is designed to serve 330,000 residents of the Doboj region in Republika Srpska, Zenica – Doboj Canton and Tuzla Canton in the Federation of BiH in the long – term.

It will have a total of 468 beds, a main surgical block with four operating theatres, an emergency block with an operating theatre, a diagnostic centre with more than 22 different radiological and other diagnostic procedures, day clinic / polyclinic service with about 20 specialist consultations, oncology day clinic, etc.

Separate entrances for patients and staff and entry into the emergency block are designed.

After the construction of the new Hospital in Bijeljina, a fully reconstructed and built the Republika Srpska University Clinical Centre, a newly built and fully equipped Hospital in Istocno Sarajevo, the new hospital project starts off in Doboj.

CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW HOSPITAL – STRATEGIC PROJECT

The Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, expressed satisfaction with the laying of a cornerstone for the construction of a new hospital in Doboj, which, in terms of finances, is a large project, and, in terms of significance, is a strategic project for Republika Srpska and the city.

Dodik expects the new building of the Holy Apostle Luke Hospital, the construction and the financing of which were discussed in China three years ago, will be built in 36 months and handed over to Srpska and the City of Doboj.

“It is being built with the money from the Republika Srpska Budget. Srpska has an obligation towards cities such as Doboj to build capital buildings,” Dodik told reporters after the cornerstone laying ceremony.

He expressed satisfaction with the fact that all details of the construction have been agreed with Chinese partners.

Dodik said that the construction of a building, without VAT, will cost somewhat more than KM 88 million and that the whole project is worth almost KM 100 million and includes the purchase of new equipment, education of personnel, and some additional costs.

He said that the Republika Srpska Government financed the construction of health facilities in Bijeljina, Istocno Sarajevo, Nevesinje, the reconstruction of the University Clinical Center in Banjaluka, facilities in Foca, Gradiska, Zvornik.

Dodik, who is also the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, thanked the Chinese partners for their persistence needed to complete complicated administrative procedures and expressed satisfaction for being a part of the team.
