Banks in Srpska lose 34.5 million KM

Banks of RS recorded a 34.5 million KM loss in 2013 and it is mostly due to the loss experienced by two banks which totaled 80.8 million KM.

According to preliminary data from the RS Banking Agency, the remaining eight banks last year generated 46.3 million KM in net profit.

The RS Banking Agency pointed out that the largest loss was experienced by Hypo Alpe Adria Bank Banja Luka and the Bank of Srpska , which was created through the recapitalization of the former Balkan Investment Bank.

The financial report of Hypo Bank, which was published on the website of the Banja Luka Stock Exchange, said that its total net loss in the 2013 amounted to 69 million KM.

The total income of banks last year amounted to 483.9 million KM and increased by 2% compared to the previous year. On the other hand, expenditures were 511.4 million KM, an increase of 14 % compared to the 2012.

According to preliminary data, the level of total banking sector recorded a net loss of 34.5 million KM, while at the end of 2012 the net profit was 15.6 million KM.
