Croatia’s malicious allegations citing redirection of refugees

Belgrade, September 22  – Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic stated today that the Serbian Ministry of Interior dismisses accusations and malicious allegations that Serbia consciously redirects refugees to Croatia.
Stefanovic said that Serbia does not either interfere in the movement of refugees or limit their freedom of movement.

“It should be clear to all that the routes used by migrants cannot be influenced, because the people who are fleeing the war in their countries want to reach Western Europe by all means,” said Stefanovic.

He urged Croatian authorities to allow unimpeded transport of goods and freight traffic flow at the most important transit route, because the blockade of border crossings causes great damage to the economy of the entire region and Europe.

“The Ministry of Interior is fully prepared to implement all decisions by the Government of Serbia, as well as orders of the prime minister, in terms of reciprocal measures against Croatia, unless the flow of goods and freight traffic is normalised,” said Stefanovic.

Croatian authorities have imposed freight traffic blockade from Serbia dirtection at the border crossing Batrovci-Bajakovo, the only border crossing opened between Serbia and Croatia. Freight traffic towards Serbia has been blocked, too since this morning.
