Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic spoke on Friday with representatives of the Johns Hopkins University from the United States of America, Richard James Redett and Branko Bojovic.
Prime Minister Cvijanovic thanked Doctor Bojovic who was one of the initiators of cooperation between the U.S. plastic surgeons and surgeons from the Republika Srpska as defined by the Agreement of Cooperation concluded between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republika Srpska and the Department for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Thanks to the engagement of Doctor Bojovic and personal commitment of the Prime Minister, in addition to the involvement of the Representative Office of the Republika Srpska in Washington, Mr. Redett, one of the greatest world experts on birth anomalies and reconstructive facial surgery, came to the Republika Srpska.
Surgeons from the U.S. in cooperation with local doctors at the Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the University- Clinical Center Banja Luka will perform several complex plastic surgeries.
This was only the beginning of the cooperation with the Johns Hopkins University and the intention is that the University-Clinical Center of the Republika Srpska becomes the regional center of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Doctor Branko Bojovic, representative of the Johns Hopkins University and Head of Department for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Massachusetts General Hospital was a member of the team of doctors who performed one of the most complex surgeries of our time of face transplantation with the best esthetic results.
Mr. Bojovic stated that a team of experts from Johns Hopkins University would visit the Republic of Srpska on another occasion and would perform several breast reconstruction surgeries.
Prime Minister Cvijanovic further specified that the Agreement signed between the Ministry of Health and the Johns Hopkins University enables doctors from the Republika Srpska to visit the University and get the training in plastic and reconstructive surgery there and stressed that this was great project for the health care system in the Republika Srpska and for local doctors who can follow the global trends in medicine.
