Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said today that members of the BiH Armed Forces from the ranks of Serb people inherit and maintain the tradition of the Army of Republika Srpska, thus using them for that purpose should be in the exclusive competence of a Serb BiH presidency member.
“Republika Srpska did not challenge the Law on the BiH Armed Forces, but it is unacceptable that a bureaucrat or administrator in the BiH Defencee Ministry, even the Minister herself, be asked about the part in which you maintain the tradition of the Army of Republika Srpska. This should have been the exclusive competence of a Serb member of the BiH Presidency, and if so, there would not be a problem,” Dodik has stressed in his address at the Christmas reception organised by the Command of the 6th Infantry Brigade of the BiH Armed Forces with the command and units in the Kozara Barracks in Banjaluka.
He has asked every decision-making party to resolve this issue.
“We cannot accept that a bureaucrat decides what the heritage of Republika Srpska Army’s tradition is. The Republika Srpska Army and what you have belong to us and we want to manage this in the best possible way,” Dodik has said.
The president of Srpska has stressed that members of the Armed Forces of BiH should take part in the celebration of January 9 – the Republika Srpska Day next year.
“January 9 cannot be challenged by court’s political decisions or in any other way. This holiday belongs to our people and soldiers, while the heritage of the tradition of the Republika Srpska Army belongs to Republika Srpska,” Dodik has said.
He has emphasized that the Republika Srpska Army won the defensive-patriotic war and brought freedom to the Serb people.
“You maintain the tradition of the Republika Srpska Army, whose supreme commander was the president of Srpska, which won the victory, defending the state of Republika Srpska, because there is no freedom without the state, which we have learnt a long time ago,” Dodik has said.
He has stressed that Republika Srpska supports the engagement of Serb members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who, according to him, are the best representatives of what Republika Srpska is.
Dodik has congratulated the members of the 3rd Infantry Regiment /Republika Srpska/ of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 9 – the Republika Srpska Day and Christmas with traditional greeting “Christ is Born!”
The Christmas reception was organised by the Command of the 6th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH with the command and units in the Kozara Barracks in Banjaluka.
