The BiH Court on Wednesday sentenced Elfeta Veseli to ten years in prison for the cruel murder of 12-year-old boy Slobodan Stojanović in 1992 near Zvornik.
Sakib Halilović, who was the commander of the sabotage platoon of the Liplje joint command of the so-called Army of BiH, was acquitted of charges of monitoring the murder and failing to punish Veseli, who was a platoon member.
Based on testimonies of a large number of witnesses and medical experts, the Trial Chamber has concluded that Veseli committed the crime which she is charged with.
The time Elfeta Veseli spent in custody since March 24, 2017, and the time she spent in an extradition jail in Switzerland will be included in her prison term.
The verdict can be appealed.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH charged Veseli with murdering 12-year-old boy Slobodan Stojanović in July or the first half of August 1992, in the settlement of Bajrići-Novo Selo, in the area of Kamenica, while she was a member of the sabotage platoon of the Liplje joint command of the so-called Army of BiH.
The indictment charges that Veseli murdered the boy in the most heinous way. She approached him from behind while he was on his bicycle and cut his throat with a knife.
The indictment also alleges that Sakib Halilović, who was the commander of the sabotage platoon, knew that his subordinate committed the crime, but failed to take necessary measures to punish her.
The BiH Court’s verdict handed down to Elfeta Veseli, by which she was sentenced to ten years in prison for the cruel murder of 12-year-old boy Slobodan Stojanović in 1992 near Zvornik, is another confirmation of double standards applied by the BiH judiciary which is in the service of punishing only Serbs, the president of the Republika Srpska Veterans’ Organization /BORS/, Milomir Savčić.
Head of the Association of Women Victims of War of Republika Srpska Božica Živković Rajilić says a short sentence of ten years the BiH Court rendered to Elfeta Veseli for a brutal murder of a 12-year-old boy Slobodan Stojanović in 1992 near Zvornik is utterly unacceptable.
