The Council of the European Union has adopted the decision to establish a mechanism for pre-accession aid to countries in the process of European integration in the period from 2014 to 2020, known as “IPA II”.
The decision to establish a new mechanism for financial assistance was adopted on 27 February; the European Parliament had given the green light earlier. The total aid package for the period is 11.7 billion EUR for all beneficiary countries for a period of six years.
The officially adopted document also includes Bosnia and Herzegovina as a beneficiary of pre-accession assistance, however, agreements on the specific implementation of this program have been blocked for months.
The preparations for the IPA II program with Bosnia and Herzegovina are still in the beginning, and there have been no official contacts with the B&H authorities regarding the matter yet, said the EU Delegation in Sarajevo.
