After the Veterinary Office of BiH prepared the Action Plan for fulfilling recommendations of the Directorate General of Health and Food and analysis and revisions of the European Commission, which were conducted in the period between May 28 and June 1, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH was officially informed that the action plan for the export of poultry meat to the EU was adopted.
After the approval of the Action Plan, the European Commission will complete all the procedures for amendments of the Council Regulation EZ No. 798/2008, in order for BiH to be included in the list of countries that are permitted to export poultry meat into the EU and Decision 2007/777, in order for our country to be included in the list of countries from which poultry meat products are allowed for export to the EU.
“The most important part of the work has been completed. I expect the remaining administrative procedures to be completed as soon as possible, and that this very strong sector of agriculture, which includes 20,000 workplaces, will expand very soon,” said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Sarovic.
After all the procedures are conducted, the Veterinary Office will submit a list of objects approved for the export of poultry and poultry meat products to the EU, in order to allow these objects to start with exports to the EU.
Currently, poultry producers who have received export certificates for the European Union market expect the administrative preparations to be completed soon and the first quantities of meat to be delivered at the end of September.
Four BiH producers of poultry obtained the certificate for export to the EU market: “Madi”, “Ovako”, “Brovis” and “Agreks”.
