High school students in Srpska will soon be able to study the Chinese language as it is planned to introduce it as one of the alternative languages, with German, French and English, said Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Radoslav Gajanin.
“Some secondary schools have already enabled such an activity, and funding for teachers will be arranged with the Embassy of China. We also have the idea of studying Chinese at the University of the Faculty of Philology as an elective subject, and later as a compulsory, that is, as a department of the Chinese language, “Gajanin pointed out.
After meeting with China’s Ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ji Ping, he said that they discussed improving the work of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka and planned activities for this year. Gajanin said that he was very satisfied with the activities of this institute in the past year.
“The Institute works on studying the Chinese language, with courses being adapted to all the ages and needs of the citizens of Srpska. Students of the University have been given a free course to complete the Chinese language in academic studies, “explained Gajanin.
According to him, through the Institute interested can also get acquainted with the tradition and culture of the Chinese people, but professors and students from China have the opportunity to get to know the culture and traditions of the Republic of Srpska.
“Through the Institute, we have achieved a number of agreements with other institutes and universities,” Gajanin added, as reported by Srpska Cafe.
Ambassador Ji said that the Confucius Institute proved to be very active and thanked for the support of the Government of Srpska and the University. He emphasized that the Institute will continue to represent the platform for cultural exchange between Republic of Srpska and China.
“We hope that more and more citizens of Srpska will learn the language and get to know our culture,” said the Chinese ambassador.
President of the Confucius Institute, Cai Jing, thanked the Embassy of China for its support of the Institute’s opening and expressed the hope that cooperation will be even better in the future.
