Sarajevo, November 5 – The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina pronounced the first instance verdict and sentenced Husein Bosnic to seven years’ imprisonment for public incitement to terrorism.
The Court found Bosnic guilty of consciously propagating and spreading Islamic radicalism and publicly inciting others to join terrorist organisations from the position of religious authority, as a member of the so-called Salafi Community in BiH, during 2013 and 2014 in several places, such as Velika Kladusa and Gornja Maoca.

Bosnic is charged with holding public speeches at gatherings of the Selafi community’s members and spreading messages via social network “YouTube” in order to encourage the members of the Salafi Community to join the Islamic State, an organised terrorist group.

The pronounced sentence of imprisonment shall include the time Bosnic has already spent in the custody, since September 3, 2014.

Bosnic’s custody will be extended for the next nine months, until August 15, 2016 when Bosnic will be sent to a prison.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has pointed out how satisfied it is with the verdict, but the greater punishment will be required in the second instance proceedings.

The defence announced an appeal and Bosnic’s lawyers have stated that this case is “politically staged.”

Members of the Federal Police and the BiH State Investigation and Protection Agency highly secured the inside and outside of the Court building during the verdict pronunciation.
