December 3rd is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.

Over one billion people worldwide live with some kind of disability, this number equals to 15% or more of the total population of the world.

IDPwD is unique among community awareness days, as it unites disability organisations, businesses, federal, state and local governments and the community. The day is a collaborative effort to celebrate and acknowledge the experience and expertise of people with disability.

In Banja Luka, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Care will hold a meeting with all organizations affiliated with disabled persons and the National Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities.
