High Representative Valentin Inzko commended the Republika Srpska institutions for finalising the process of forming the RS Government on Saturday, and pointed out that it is of utmost importance that the Srpska budget and the economic policy for 2015 are adopted in a timely manner.
Inzko also commended the National Assembly and Council of Peoples for forming the new government, the Office of the High Representative (OHR) stated in a press release.
Stressing that Bosnia and Herzegovina is going through very difficult social and economic times, Inzko noted that it was of crucial importance that no time was lost in the formation of institutions.
„I therefore appreciate that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, which was convened within the legal deadline, was the first legislature in BiH to vote on a new government,” said Inzko.
The High Representative also expressed hope that the new government would make progress soon on its programme. “The citizens of Republika Srpska expect their Government to start working as soon as possible and to tackle the difficult social and economic situation,” added Inzko.
The formation of Srpska’s legislative authorities was finalised on Saturday with the appointment of the Council of Peoples and the election of Nada Tesanovic as its chair from the ranks of Croats.
The Presidency of the Council of Peoples later had a meeting where it concluded that no people’s vital national interests were violated with the appointment of the new government and Zeljka Cvijanovic as prime minister, thus confirming their election.
