More than 50 countries around the world are celebrating the International Men’s Day. The 19th of November was first marked in 1999.
The aim of this day, according to UNESCO, is to improve the health of men, their place in society, in the family, at work and to promote positive male role models.
Analyses have shown that the lifetime of an average male is seven years shorter than that of a female, it is thus important that they learn how to live a healthy lifestyle from an early age.
This day is connected to an event known as Movember (the name originates from the combination of words November and mustache), which calls for the symbolic growing of a mustache and the raising of awareness of men’s health issues.
