President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik has said last night
that January 9 – Republika Srpska Day is one of the most important dates in Srpska, which cannot be erased from the history of the Serb people.
“This nation built its entire history on the truth and we cannot move those dates,” said Dodik at a ceremonial reception in Belgrade on January 9, the Republika Srpska Day, and February 28, the day of the first Constitution being adopted.
He pointed out that Republika Srpska is committed to peace. “We have Serbia and Republika Srpska and we need to defend it, we don’t need war, we will reach our rights through politics,” said Dodik.
Dodik has said that there will be many more fights, European values will invade and demand what does not belong to us, which should dissolve the story of identity, but he believes that Serbia and Srpska have the strength to defend that identity.
“Srpska has accepted to move towards the EU, but it is not going to join NATO. We will never forget that NATO bombed us. Republika Srpska has political strength, I think we have positioned ourselves well in BiH, they cannot decide anything without us,” pointed out Dodik.
He stated that in such an unsettled country, any development is prevented. “BiH, if it stayed seven days without the American or British ambassadors, would not exist, it lives only because they have the will to terrorize us with their demands,” said Dodik.
His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia said tonight Republika Srpska was created on the basis of fidelity to the Kosovo vow, and that its unity with Serbia is indestructible.
The Patriarch pointed out that unity built on any kind of evil is not necessary, people built on such unity are not needed neither by themselves nor by others.
“Our unity is expressed in faithfulness to God. The unity between Serbia and Republika Srpska is an expression of unity, which is why it is indestructible; from such unity comes every progress and improvement of all the gifts and peculiarities that make up the identity of the Serb people,” said Patriarch Porfirije at the official reception organized on the occasion of January 9, Republika Srpska Day, and February 28, the day of the first Constitution being adopted.
He added that the identity of Serbs is what God recognizes Serbs by, that they are Orthodox Christians who do not give up and do not kneel down in troubled times and before temptations because they always and in everything see the sign of victory and the cross of the Risen Christ.
A reception organized by the Republika Srpska Representative Office on the occasion of Republic Day and the Day of its first constitution was held in Belgrade Tuesday evening.
The reception was attended by the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, Speakers of the Parliaments of Serbia and Srpska, Nenad Stevandić and Vladimir Orlić, Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Višković, His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, as well as MPs, ministers in the governments of the two republics and others.
