Maternity Allowance in the Republic of Srpska will be granted to all unemployed new mothers, regardless of their previous status, by the new Bill amending the Child Protection Act, which is being considered today by the National Assembly.
It is stated in the explanation of this bill that if the new mother is unemployed at the time of childbirth and has been a resident of the Republic of Srpska for at least one year before the childbirth, shall be entitled to maternity allowance.
Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić said today that this bill provides to the employers, which are beneficiaries of the right to reimbursement under the current law, reimbursement of wages in the amount of 100 percent in 2020, after the payment of wages to employees.
Explaining this bill in the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Šeranić said that the bill also introduces a new right, the compensation to the caregiver-parent or the carer in the amount of 25 percent of the given base from Article 21 of the current law.
– This legal solution will reduce the costs of maternity leave for all employers – said Šeranić.
