The sword was used from the end of the 13th to the first half of the 15th century, based on analysis of the blade.
The Museum of the Republic of Srpska realized the sword extraction from Vrbas in cooperation with the DC “BUK” and the Republic Institute for the Protection of the Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage of Republika Srpska.
Divers of the Buk Diving Club found a sword in the depths of Vrbas in the village of Rekavice, near the medieval fortified town of Zvečaj.
After thorough cleaning and conservation, the sword will be kept in the holdings of the RS Museum, where it will be accessible to visitors and explorers interested in the medieval past of the city and its surroundings.
