Ms. Nancy J. Eslick, the newly appointed USAID Mission Director for Bosnia and Herzegovina arrived at post and started her duties.

Eslick’s arrival signals the U.S. Government’s ongoing commitment to our bilateral relationship, and to promoting BiH’s Euro-Atlantic integration by fostering more effective and accountable institutions that meet citizens’ needs and help create a competitive, market-oriented economy providing better economic opportunities for all citizens.

‘I am eager to join the USAID Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an incredible country with a rich blend of culture and heritage, natural resources, and beauty. I hope in the upcoming years I will help people in Bosnia to strengthen their economy, rule of law, and democracy, and to empower them to guide their country towards a peaceful, free and prosperous future,” Eslick said.

As Mission Director, Nancy Eslick oversees the largest portion of the U.S. Government’s civilian assistance budget to BiH, totalling nearly $26 million. Prior to her appointment, she served in the USAID Mission to Jordan first as Deputy Mission Director and the last two years as Acting Director.

According to the USAID statement, Eslick previously served in Washington D.C. leading USAID’s Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) to combat citizen insecurity and violence and the Merida Initiative for regional security cooperation between Mexico and the United States. She has been posted overseas to missions in Pakistan, Uganda, and Afghanistan.

To date, the U.S. Government, primarily through USAID, has provided more than $1.8 billion in assistance to support economic, democratic and social progress in Bosnia.
