Not a single Serb holds a leading office in the FBiH Ministry of Internal Affairs /MIA/, while 18 Bosniaks, four Croats and seven from among others are holding such offices in the Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs, says a report from the BiH Ombudsman for Human Rights on ethnic and gender composition of police and security agencies in BiH.

The situation is similar in Canton Ministries of Internal Affairs – not a single Serb holds any of the 19 leading offices in the Sarajevo Canton MIA, not a single Serb holds any of the 33 leading offices in the Bosnia Podrinje Canton MIA, not a single Serb holds any of the 23 leading offices in the Central Bosnia MIA, not a single Serb holds any of the leading offices, that is, not a single Serb is employed, in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton MIA, while at the Una-Sana Canton MIA, only one Serb holds a leading office of the 42 such offices.

According to the report, which gives the ethnic composition of employees on September 30, 2017, only one Serb holds a leading office in the FBiH Police Administration of the 14 such offices, only two Serbs hold leading offices in the Zenica Doboj Canton MIA of the 58 such offices, and only three Serbs hold leading offices in the Tuzla Canton MIA of the 99 such offices.

The caretaker Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdić, has recently cited data from the report and said that only 18 Bosniaks hold leading offices in the Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs, “forgetting” to say how many Serbs hold leading offices in the Federal and Canton Ministries of Internal Affairs.
