At the ceremony held at the Sava Centre, the Order of Saint Sava of the 1st Degree was presented to the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and the Order of Saint Simeon to the Serb member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik. His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia was awarded the Order of Saint Sava.
“The Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church /SOC/ has decided to honor Patriarch Irinej with the Order of Saint Sava for many years of dedicated work, as well as for wisdom and responsibility,” said His Eminence Vicar Bishop Stefan of Remesiana on Tuesday evening at the ceremony “Zavet Svetog Save” marking the 800th anniversary of the SOC.
Vučić was awarded the Order of Saint Sava of the 1st Degree for his active love for the mother Church, and his commitment to the Serb people and the integrity of Serbia, and especially to the preservation of Kosovo and Metohija within its borders.
Dodik was awarded the Order of Saint Simeon for his active love for the mother Church and his commitment to the Serb people and Republika Srpska.
“This is not the Order to Dodik, but to the entire Serbian people, who show great love and devotion to our Church,” Dodik noted.
Patriarch Irinej presented the orders to Vučić and Dodik.
The decision to award such high recognitions was made by the Holy Synod of the SOC.
On the occasion of the consecration of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Banja Luka on May 29, 2009, as one of the godfathers of the temple, then the Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, was awarded the Order of Saint Sava of the First Order, the highest decoration of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Српски народ показује велику љубав и приврженост нашој Цркви
Ово није Орден Милораду Додику, већ цијелом српском народу, који показује велику љубав и приврженост нашој Цркви, када смо је бранили у злу, и градили у добру – предсједник Додик.
