Orthodox New Year in the port of the Temple of Christ the Savior in Banja Luka

On Sunday, January 13, we will celebrate another New Year.

Namely, the “Orthodox”, “Serbian” or “Old” New Year is celebrated, which is celebrated as the beginning of the new year according to the Julian calendar,  and is celebrated by Orthodox churches in Russia, Serbia, and other Eastern European countries.

In Banja Luka, the Orthodox New Year will be marked by concerts that will be held in the port of the Temple of Christ the Savior.

The program will begin at 8.30 pm when the ethno group “Trag” and their guests – children from the Center for Preschool Education and Education, more precisely from “Maslačak” kindergarten, and children from  “Veselin Masleša” will perform.

At 22.00, the choir of the Jazavac Municipal Theater will be staged, and the City Tamburitza Orchestra will be released on the stage at least half an hour later.

Exactly at midnight, moleban will be served on the occasion of the Orthodox New Year.
