The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac believes that BiH’s path to the EU has slowed down because some structures in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ are listening to what US Ambassador Michael Murphy or the head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina Johann Sattler are saying, while ignoring the third party with whom they should negotiate.
“That third party is for Constitutional BiH and it is the party that comes from Republika Srpska,” Košarac stressed.
He emphasized that there will be no movements in BiH, not even under the “conductor baton” of the American ambassador or the head of the EU Delegation, but only in accordance with the Dayton Accords.
Košarac pointed out that there are politicians in BiH who are not independent and are managed by certain ambassadors, and that nowhere in the world does an ambassador bring an agenda to the government with the expectation of his country for something to be done.
“Politicians should be made independent. I think that we will then return to the letter of Dayton, an agreement between two entities and three constituent nations. That is the only formula for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and not for one of the representatives of /international institutions/ to seek partnership in foreign embassies in order to have policies defined against the views of one of the constituent nations,” Košarac told reporters in Sarajevo.
He believes that BiH should negotiate with the European delegation and realize its foreign policy goals, which is EU membership, and direct additional energy to the independence of domestic politicians.
