Police Director of the Republika Srpska Darko Ćulum has assessed, regarding the announcement by the Ministry of Interior of Federation of BiH about the establishment of a reserve police force, that the problem is that in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ they do not fight for the improvement of security situation, but they are going to form a reserve police force to oppose the Republika Srpska.

Ćulum has told that he did not know why certain agencies in BiH are inviting the OHR and the international community to prevent the establishment of a reserve police force in Srpska.

“Probably, we can regulate our laws ourselves and how our regulations may look and we can predict the possibility for the reserve police force. I do not know what is disputably. We have nothing against it, but it is known why the reserve police force is established, when it needs for natural disasters, improvement of security, for the current migrant crisis, and other”, Ćulum told.

SNSD deputy in the BiH House of Representatives Staša Košarac has said that Srpska has no intention of competing with the FBiH, but that it will be cautious when it comes to the intentions of another entity.

“We appeal to be committed to the peace and security of all citizens, our appropriation is a peaceful situation in BiH and the region, and we do not give up on that, but the institutions of Srpska have simply been forced to withdraw certain policies and moves for the protection of interests the Srpska’s citizens because of inadequate treatment of the common level of institutions”, Košarac said.

Ministry of the Interior of the FBiH has announced yesterday that it has drafted the preliminary Law on Amendments to the Law on Internal Affairs of the FBiH which implies the formation of a reserve police force as “a direct response to establishment of a reserve force in the Republika Srpska”.

“Until now, the OHR and the international community have not taken concrete measures to prevent the establish of a reserve force in Republika Srpska, the Ministry of the Interior of the FBiH has taken concrete measures and activities to restore shattered security and maintain the balance of police forces in the entities”, said in the statement on the website of the Ministry of the Interior of the FBiH.

The National Assembly of the Republika Srpska has already adopted the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs which stipulates that the reserve police force of Srpska has the same authorities as the regular police.
