First hours of the general elections held in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday were marked with the late opening of numerous of the 5,401 polling stations in the country, local media reported citing information of the Bosnian central electoral commission.
The polls opened at 7 a.m. local time and will close at 7 p.m..
The delay in the opening of many polling stations was due to technical troubles.
No serious violations have been registered so far.
Of the 1,209,505 eligible voters, 488,952 /40.43%/ cast their ballots by 15:00 in regular polling stations in Republika Srpska, says the BiH Central Electoral Commission.
First preliminary results by the Central Election Commission are expected at midnight.
