The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik attended the premiere of the film “The Storm” at the “Cineplex Palas” in Banja Luka last night.
“The Storm” is the first film of Serbian cinematography about the suffering in 1995 and the persecution of 250,000 Serbs from their centuries-old hearths from the territory of Croatia.
The President of Srpska said that the film is important not only for the film industry but also for the Serbian history.
“It is the best platform for the events that marked the history of the Serb people to be recorded in the best possible way and passed on to the future generations”, said the President of the Republic.
The President Dodik stated that the film is suitable for showing the tough fate of the Serbs in 1995 and that he believes that it will motivate others for new topics.
“I believe that based on this success and the broadcast of the film, others will be motivated to accept some new topics. In the past, this kind of expression was missing, and on the other hand, a more organised approach was taken. They took the initial positions in terms of presenting their view of the event”, said the President of Srpska.
The President Dodik added that the film is a universal and artistic story, but also a theme of the suffering of people and individuals.
The President of the Republic reminded that civilians were killed in the “The Storm”, just as it was the case on the Petrovac road when the refugee column was bombed.
“It should be recorded that they died because they belonged to the Serb people”, said the President of Srpska.
The President Dodik wished the team that created the film success in other projects in the future.
