Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic along with the Government Ministers spoke with representatives of local communities in East Sarajevo area and Jahorina Olympic Center about organization activities with regard to holding of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 (EYOF 2019) in East Sarajevo.
Prime Minister Cvijanovic stated that the Government was determined to support organization of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 and confirmed that the Government would allocate 2.5 million BAM for the infrastructure part of the Project.
“Our commitment to this Project exists for years. There is no dilemma with regard to organization and functioning necessary to be done in this regard. The Government of the Republic of Srpska would enable the infrastructural part of the Project for which purpose it would allocate BAM 2.5 million”, the Prime Minister said and added that she was certain that additional infrastructure interventions would be needed in the city of East Sarajevo to be prepared for accommodation of guests and other accompanying activities.
“We shall work together with the local authorities and the mayors on preparation of this event. We are heading in good direction and another good thing is that all capacities would remain as permanent infrastructure and would be used by the Republic of Srpska”, Pime Minister Cvijanovic said.
Prime Minister emphasized that the Government priority was to invest in the area of East Sarajevo and announced that the Government of the Republic of Srpska would support sveral more projects in this area related to energy efficiency which foresee joining the funds with local communities and international institutions.
Prime Minister Cvijanovic thanked the Mayor of East Sarajevo, Nenad Vukovic who initiated this meeting.
The Mayor of East Sarajevo, Nenad Vukovic said that an important agreement was reached during the meeting since the Government decided to participate in the organization of the European Youth Olympic Festival in the concrete way.
“I am very happy to say that necessary investments would be made in the location of Dvoriste where the competition in biathlon would take place, that the ice for the sports hall in Pale would be provided for the carling competition and that a prefabricated facility for speed skating would be installed in East New Sarajevo”, Vukovic said and added that the investments at Jahorina related to the Alpine part of the programme, namely slalom and giant slalom have already been made. Thanks to the Government intervention, Vukovic continued, all four skiing grounds would be ready for competition.
“This is an important event and we have to assemble around this Olympic Festival which is important for East Sarajevo, for Jahorina, Republic of Srpska and for all of us”, Vukovic said.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, Zoran Tegeltija, the Minister of Family, Youth and Sports, Jasmina Davidovic and the Minister of Trade and Tourism, Predrag Gluhakovic.
