Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković met in Banja Luka today with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union and the EU Special Representative in BiH, Lars-Gunar Vigemark and the Delegation of the EU Council’s Working Party on the Western Balkans Region (COWEB).
Prime Minister Višković emphasized the commitment of the Government of the Republic of Srpska to the European path and pointed to the need for consistent appreciation of the Coordination Mechanism in the European integration process.
The Prime Minister underlined that the Republic of Srpska would give its maximum contribution in this process but that it insisted it must be recognized as an equal partner and participant in decision making in accordance with its constitutional position and competencies.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Viskovic further stressed that the prerequisite for further progress on the road to the European Union was the formation of government at all levels and that it was necessary to establish the Council of Ministers and the Government of the Federation of BiH as soon as possible.
Prime Minister Višković welcomed the activities of the EU Council’s Working Party on the Western Balkans which plays a significant role when it comes to assisting domestic institutions in the EU accession process.
In attendance of the meeting were also Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska Zlatan Klokić and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Srpska Anton Kasipović.
