The EU is urging Bosnian politicians to show leadership by initiating reforms that would allow the country to emerge from the political and economic crises that have fueled violent protests over the past week.
The comments coincided with fresh protests in Sarajevo and other cities across Bosnia, with demonstrators demanding the resignation of regional and local leaders whom they blame for economic hardship and corruption.
Yesterday, hundreds of protesters demanded the resignation of the Federal Prime Minister Nermin Niksic and the formation of a transitional government until the elections. They said the protests will end with his resignation.
The protests have been ongoing since last week, when violent riots, clashes with police and fires took hold in various regions.
