Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) Gordan Milinic stated that the year of 2017 is a record one in the history of BiH when it comes to the number of foreign investments.

During the discussion on Information in the field of direct foreign investments in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, he noted that an increase of 68 % was recorded in the field of foreign investments in the first six months.

“We have fulfilled the plan in the first nine months of last year and we have 638 million BAM, and according to new data of the Central Bank of BiH, which is recording all payments, we are already at 700 million BAM,” stated Milinic.

He expressed his expectation that the level of foreign investments for the entire year of 2017 will reach the budget of BiH, which amounts to about 950 million BAM.

As he noted, it is necessary to provide additional funds for advertisement and promotion of BiH in order to achieve higher foreign investments, as well as incentives for foreign investors.

“Last year’s investments were in the smaller amount of 5, 10 or 15 million BAM, and there were couple of them in the amount of 30 million BAM. This was achieved through hard work, taking the investors on the locations numerous times and holding numerous meetings in order for some investment to happen,” stated Milinic.

According to the data of the Central Bank of BiH, in the period from May 1994, to December 2016, there was about 13 billion BAM in BiH, and direct foreign investments in the year of 2016 amounted to 536.3 million BAM.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH presented data that there were about 264 million BAM of foreign investments in the year of 2016 and that the amount of the capital of foreign investors, which was entered in the court register as a part of foreign capital, amounted to around 83 million BAM for the period January – June last year.
