“Please tell us how informed you are about the problem of migrants coming to Bosnia and Herzegovina?”, it was one of the question which, for the purposes of our portal, was realized by Prime Communications Agency. Prime Communications Agency realized a survey on the topic of citizens’ views about migrants coming in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
1000 respondents took part in the research, and a technique of oral interview was applied, based on a pre-prepared questionnaire. The population represented by the research is defined as the general population of the Republic of Srpska, older than 18 years, and a possible error is + – three percent.
The survey was realized in the first half of September 2018.
Half of the citizens of Republika Srpska (50.8 percent) say that it is only partially informed about the migrant crisis in BiH. Every fourth inhabitant of this entity is well informed (22.6 percent), while it is highly informed about 4.5 percent. Among the citizens of Republika Srpska we find 14.9 percent of those who claim that they are bad informed about the problems of migrants coming to BiH, while 6.3 percent say that they are not at all informed.

Television is the main source of information for the citizens of the Republic of Srpska about the migrants (81.4 percent), followed by daily newspapers (27.8 percent), social networks (26.1 percent), radio (25.2 percent) and war criminals , 3 percent). Citizens of Republika Srpska are least informed about migrants by magazines (14.3 percent) and portals (12.3 percent).

Research has shown that citizens of Republika Srpska have a fairly divided opinion on the number of migrants in BiH. There is almost the same percentage (about 20%) of those who think that the number of migrants in BiH is up to 1000, between 1000 and 3000, between 3000 and 5000 and 5000 and 10,000. Only 5.8% of Republika Srpska residents think that BiH is present more than 10,000 migrants.

The majority of the population of Republika Srpska (82.3%) has no contact with migrants, while every tenth (12.3%) meets them sometimes in the city. Other types of contacts are minimized.

In the majority of the population of the Republic of Srpska migrants cause a sense of concern (48.3%), then fear (29.5%), apathy (24.5%) and sadness (24.2%).
