A historian from Belgrade, Dejan Ristić, stated during a lecture given in Mostar on the subject “Cultural Heritage in Serbia and Republika Srpska” that Serbs have exceptional cultural heritage, but they often treat it irresponsibly.
Ristic emphasized that cultural heritage is a resource that is used in regulated societies in the fields of culture, science, art, education, economy, tourism.
– Cultural heritage can come in different ways and use it in the most positive way for a long period of time – if you know it, protect it and manage it responsibly – said Ristic.
He pointed out that there are examples of good practice, but that they are too rare, and one of them is the reconstruction of Golubac Fortress.
Dejan Ristic is a prominent historian, translator and screenwriter. He is one of the leading experts in the field of integrated protection and management of cultural heritage.
