Russia’s State Duma will consider tomorrow Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to appoint Mikhail Mishustin as the country’s new prime minister, Russian RIA news agency reported.
Putin proposed Mishustin after Russia’s PM Dmitry Medvedev has resigned.
Medvedev will take over as deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council.
Mishustin, currently serving as head of the Russian Federal Tax Service, has accepted the Russian president’s proposal.
Mikhail Mishustin is 53 years old and has worked in the federal government since 1998. However, he did not get much exposure even when he became head of the Federal Tax Service, exactly ten years ago.
Yesterday, the entire Russian government resigned following Putin’s remarks on the state of the nation, where he announced, among other things, constitutional amendments that would weaken his successor and transfer power to the prime minister and parliament.
