Serbia: Over 250 women named Milica Jovanovic break Guinness World Record in Belgrade

A group of Serbian women set the new Guinness Record for the largest number of people with the same name and surname gathered in the same place during an event held in Belgrade on Saturday.

A total of 256 women and girls called Milica Jovanovic attended the gathering, organised by the company Color Media Communications, which received the Guinness Record certificate.

Milica being the most common name in Serbia, and Jovanovic the most common surname, the organisation searched for women with this name across Serbia and brought them to Belgrade.

“This is a unique opportunity in a lifetime. Not everybody has an opportunity to set the new world record and Milica Jovanovic is often considered a very common name and surname, but from today it will be very special”, said one of the participants.

The organisers started the campaign in October 2022, when the last record in this category was set in Japan, with 178 people called Hirokazu Tanaka.
