Forty-year-old Sladjana Milankovic from Palachkovci gave birth to her seventh child, a baby named Brane, at the maternity hospital in Prnjavor.
This family already has three daughters and three sons, the oldest of whom is 20 years old.
Milankovic said the birth was smooth, as well as the baby weighing 3.2 kilograms and 55 centimeters long.
Physician Ljubisa Cvijanovic points out that Sladjana belongs to the group of older mothers, but also to serve as an example to younger women.
“All prenatal screenings were performed during pregnancy to give birth to a healthy, normal baby. There is always a risk, but nothing more than in other births,” Cvijanovic said.
He says that although three babies have been born in the past three days, this maternity unit has seen a drop in births this year.
“There are more reasons for this. Pregnant women are given the opportunity to choose where to give birth; there are also economic migrations that we cannot influence. On the other hand, we strive for all births to take place safely for both the mother and the baby,” Cvijanovic points out.
Milankovic was visited at the maternity ward today by Mayor of Prnjavor Darko Tomas and Mayor of the Municipal Assembly Zeljko Simic and handed her a baby gift.
The Municipality of Prnjavor has been stimulating all married couples who receive a third and every subsequent child for about 500 KM.
A reception will be arranged for these families on Tuesday, December 17th and the anticipated funds will be delivered.
