B&H is punishing itself by lagging behind its neighbors in the process of European integration, said Peter Sorensen, Head of the EU Delegation to B&H.
By not adopting the international verdict on Sejdic-Finci, which is meant to abolish national discrimination in the electoral process, B&H has stalled its progress towards the EU.
Sorensen recalled that the EU Council expressed “concern” regarding the possible implications of the non-implementation of the judgment before the 2014 elections and urged B&H to align its Constitution with the European Convention on Human Rights.
The EU is here to support B&H’s efforts towards possible EU membership, but the ultimate responsibility lies with the political leaders and institutions, he added.
