Srpska seeks Russian loan

0

Republika Srpska is negotiating a loan of almost 300 million EUR from Russia, which should replace the IMF.

The Finance Minister of Srpska, Zoran Tegeltija, said that the entity is still negotiating the terms of the Russian loan.

He said the IMF already set political conditions in 2013 which were not earlier agreed.

The President of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, recently jumped the gun and said the deal with Russia was a done deal. Srpska will receive 70 million EUR in the first installment and 200 million in the next, he stated.

However the opposition greeted the announcement with caution announcing that it would be irresponsible to plan to cover the ongoing deficit with Russia’s lone, while economists say that it is concerning that the conditions for repayment are not known.
