Republika Srpska Prime Minister, Zeljka Cvijanovic, has stressed that the cooperation between Republika Srpska and China is at an exceptionally high level, and the continuous work on its expansion in economic, cultural and educational sectors is underway.

During today’s meeting between Cvijanovic and Chinese Ambassador to BiH, Chen Bo, in Banjaluka, a good cooperation was particularly emphasized in the implementation of significant infrastructure projects, which led to an increasing interest of Chinese companies for investments in Republika Srpska.

Cvijanovic has said that, based on positive experiences with Chinese investors, Republika Srpska opened the door to Chinese partners and expressed interest in continuing the successful start of cooperation in the construction of road infrastructure, the energy sector, and information technologies.

The Srpska prime minister and the ambassador of China also discussed other topical issues in Republika Srpska and BiH, the Public Relations Office of the Republika Srpska Government has announced.

The meeting was held ahead of the signing of the protocol on reception of the draft proposal for the construction of the Doboj-Vukosavlje and Vukosavlje-Brcko motorway project, as part of the motorway network in Republika Srpska between the Public Enterprise “Motorways of Republike Srpske” and the consortium of Chinese companies led by the Sinochem Capital.

The meeting was attended by Republika Srpska Minister of Transport and Communications Nedjo Trninic.

Director of the Public Company “Motorways of Republika Srpska”, Dusan Topic, and a representative of Chinese companies consortium led by the Sinochem Capital, Cui Jian, signed today a protocol on reception of a draft proposal for the construction of Doboj-Vukosavlje and Vukosavlje-Brcko motorway.
Topic and Cui signed the protocol in the presence of Republika Srpska Prime Minister, Zeljka Cvijanovic, Minister of Transport and Communications, Nedjo Trninic and Ambassador of China to BiH, Chen Bo.

The protocol confirms that the Chinese partner has submitted a bid for the implementation of motorway construction through a concession on the Corridor Vc section through Republika Srpska, from Doboj to Vukosavlje and a section from Vukosavlje to Brcko towards Serbia, Topic told reporters after signing this document.

He has said that it is a non-binding document that is not part of the official protocol, but is important as it confirms and announces that the Chinese partner had submitted a draft proposal.

After a detailed review of the submitted bid, the official procedure stipulated by the Law on Concessions of Republika Srpska will begin in the next few months, added Topic.

“During the winter we could create the conditions for signing a concession contract in the spring, which means that we could enter expropriation and the Chinese partner could start with the project documentation development. We have already had project documentation for one section of Corridor Vc, while for the Vukosavlje-Brcko section the documentation needs to be done, although there is the possibility of phase planning activities and works on the ground,” Topic has said.

Cui has said that the Chinese corporation, after today’s protocol signing, will make the maximum effort to implement the project as soon as possible.
