The National Theater of the Republic of Srpska is preparing to mark its 90th birthday, and over the past nine decades, this theater has achieved remarkable results and has made a strong contribution to the development of theater art in Srpska and the region.

Banja Luka City Assembly Speaker Zoran Talić organized a reception yesterday for representatives of the National Theater of Srpska in his office.

The reception was organized on the occasion of the Order of the Republic of Srpska Flag with a gold wreath, by which the National Theater was honored by the President of Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, in celebration of January 9th, Republic of Srpska Day.

Talić emphasized that the RS National Theater needs as much support from the society as possible in order to continue to achieve good results and to be a roadmap and role model for new generations.

He stressed that this institution of culture is also a significant ambassador of the Republic of Srpska in other countries where he is visiting, presenting the potential of Srpska in culture and art.

– The multifunctional hall, which is planned to come to life in the coming period, will solve the problems of the capacity of the theater. In December last year, we launched a public design contest to get a quality solution that will primarily serve people in the cultural field. The new hall is expected to have about 700 seats – says Talić.

Nenad Novaković said that 2020 is a very significant year for the National Theater of RS.

– The RS National Theater has been running for 90 years, in several countries, political and other systems, and it has survived and is considered one of the more serious cultural institutions in the region – said Novaković.

National Theater champion Slađana Zrnić and actor Aleksandar Stojković emphasized the importance of theater and culture by inviting the audience to participate in the celebration of the nine decades of the theater’s existence.
