The transparency of the assessment of damage caused by the floods is very important and it is absolutely necessary to avoid any form of manipulation, said the PM of Republika Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic, at a meeting with the Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy in BiH, Nicholas Hill.

At their meeting in Banjaluka, Cvijanovic and Hill discussed the current political and economic situation, with particular stress on the consequences of the recent floods.

Cvijanovic thanked Hill for the assistance his country sent to the population in the devastated areas. They also discussed a package of measures the Cabinet has brought in order to effect the recovery of social and economic life in Republika Srpska, says a press release from the Government’s Press Office.

Cvijanovic and Hill also exchanged opinions on the initial flood damage assessment, which is being done in cooperation with the EU, UN and World Bank, as well as considering the international donors’ conference to be organised in the near future.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the US Embassy Office in Banjaluka, Aaron Schwebel, who will soon be leaving for a position in the US Embassy in Zagreb.
