Today, on December 21, in Bosnia and Herzegovina is marked the Day of Miners in memory of the events in Husin in 1920.
This event, known as the Husin’s bun, occurred when the miners of the Kreka, Zenica, Kakanj, Ljubija, Mostar and Brezepočeli mines went on strike because of the catastrophic working conditions and small wages, and on December 21, gendarmes tried to suppress mining discontent with strong forces.
This conflict between the miners and the gendarme lasted until December 28th when the uprising was suppressed in the blood.
Seven miners were killed in the fighting, more than a dozen were wounded, and about 400 of them were arrested.
Honestly congratulations to the miners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with deep respect for the mining profession that faces risks and dangers every day.
