The Russian Embassy in BiH announced today that the initiative for a revision of the ruling in BiH’s lawsuit against Serbia can have the most serious consequences for the stability, political unity and inter-ethnic dialogue in BiH, for its social peace and economic development and the situation in the region.
A press release says that Russia, as a guarantor of the General Framework Agreement on Peace in BiH, stresses that the International Court of Justice has already ruled in this case and that reviving the lawsuit is a unilateral move which does not enjoy the support of all the constituent peoples in BiH nor does it have approval from state institutions, which is necessary according to the Constitution.
“Having in mind the above said, we once again urge for a careful assessment of the viability of such an agenda which is to the detriment of the strengthening of trust, dialogue and cooperation, without which the progress of BiH, as a multiethnic state, is not possible,” says the Embassy of the Russian Federation in BiH.
The Russian Embassy says that it is very important to warn the initiators of their responsibility towards the peoples of BiH because of an inevitable step backwards in a complex process of multiethnic reconciliation, adding that signs in that regard are already visible.
SDA president Bakir Izetbegovic said last week that the ruling in BiH’s genocide suit against Serbia before the International Court of Justice at The Hague will be reviewed if a group of experts, headed by Sakib Softic, estimates that there are elements to support the review.
