The US Embassy in Sarajevo expressed concern due to a decision brought by the RS government according to which data lodged by applicants in the process of attaining permanent RS residence will be checked for accuracy and truthfulness.
Officials at the US embassy stated that they have not yet had the opportunity to see the decision in writing.
“We are concerned because this decision seems to be one sided, not a constructive activity from RS in terms of residence”, said the PR Office of the USA Embassy in Sarajevo, adding that they support the efforts on finding a solution for this issue at the state level and call on B&H lawmakers to achieve consensus in their work in regard to any amendments to the law on residence.
RS Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic said that this decision has a temporary character and was adopted because the law on residence can not wait.
